  • " Oxney Organic Estate is a modern mixed organic farm with vineyards, farms and holiday cottages in Kent and East Sussex. A sustainable and natural approach underpins the estate – from generating our own heat from coppiced wood chip through to a natural approach to disease control in the vineyard using wild herbs and plants. The estate is run by the owners, Kristin Syltevik and Paul Dobson. Paul is responsible for the arable and livestock operation while Kristin is responsible for the vineyard and our holiday cottages.

Oxney Organic Estate has over 21 acres of vines, planted between 2012 and 2014. We have planted Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Seyval Blanc vines and we will make English organic sparkling and still wines. We have three vintages under our belt and our still wines are available to buy at our winery cellar door, on the online shop and from a number of restaurants and shops. The first sparkling, from the 2014 vintage, will be available in November 2016.

The Tunbridge Wells Sand soil in the vineyard is a fine sand and silt loam formed during the early Cretaceous period, 140-100 million years ago.  A terrific growing medium for the vines. The soil is a key focus for us.  We have added an impressive amount of organic green compost to encourage the microorganisms in the soil. Instead of weed killers we use a mechanical cultivator combined with hand weeding.  A lot of hard work which creates a wonderful terroir for the vines to thrive and produce tasty grapes."
