Dunleavy Vineyard

1. August 14th is International rosé day

– who knew? The date has been carefully chosen as the midway point from Valentine’s Day and a perfect excuse to indulge in a sip or two of pretty pink.

2. Let’s break the myth of the second class status that has been attached to the old style rosé and acknowledge today’s beautifully diverse and complex range of wines, which offer variety in both taste and colour.

3. Rosé wines are created using the same methods by which red wines come to life

(definitely not just a blend of red and white!)

4. Hues of rosé can vary from the most delicate, pastel hint of pink, to an attractive bolder, translucent berry, all dependent on how long the red grape skins have been in contact with the juice. Following from this, the stronger the colour, generally, the greater the depth of flavour.

5. Flavour profiles offer a garden party in your glass

being fresh, crisp, dry and aromatic, with the dominant descriptors of a fruity nature including cherry, a range of berries, citrus and watermelon.

6. No need to search out a special vintage

in fact it’s rare to find a rosé more than a few years old, so young is good.

7. Versatility

Eat it with Italian, Asian, Surf and Turf and it’s definitely picnic perfect. You can find a rosé that will pair perfectly with whatever your taste buds fancy.

8. Think cocktail!

Fizzy or still, add your favourite fruit flavours (or any cheeky shots) and you’ll find a whole new range of tipples for treats!

9. English rosé makes up 10% of UK overall wine production

and our growers create a great product full of depth and flavour, but unlike overseas producers they don’t receive any tax breaks. So give them a break and try an English rosé!

10. We have a great selections of rosés to choose from, so go on, treat yourself to a browse here...
